Frequently Asked Questions

What exercises does Hold Strong support?

The free version includes Dead Hang, Plank, and Wall Sit. With Premium, you can create unlimited custom isometric exercises with your own names and goal times.

How does the motion detection work?

Hold Strong uses your iPhone's accelerometer to detect movement during a hold. If you break position beyond the configured sensitivity threshold, the timer automatically stops. You can adjust sensitivity or disable this in Settings.

How do I use voice control?

Enable voice control in Settings. Once active, you can say "start", "stop", "pause", or "next exercise" during a workout. Voice commands are processed entirely on-device — no audio is ever recorded or sent anywhere.

How do I use Siri Shortcuts?

Siri Shortcuts are a Premium feature. Once unlocked, you can say things like "Start Dead Hang in Hold Strong" or "Choose exercise in Hold Strong" to jump straight into a session. You can also find and customize these in the iOS Shortcuts app.

How does Apple Health integration work?

Go to Settings and enable HealthKit export. Hold Strong will ask for permission to write workout data to Apple Health. Once enabled, completed sessions are automatically exported with duration, calories, and workout type metadata.

Is my data safe?

Absolutely. Hold Strong works entirely on-device. Your exercise records, settings, and history are stored only on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to any server. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I restore my data on a new phone?

Your Hold Strong data is included in iCloud backups and device-to-device transfers. When you set up a new iPhone from a backup, your records, exercises, and settings come with it. You can also use the backup and restore feature in Settings.

What does Premium include?

Premium is a one-time $4.99 purchase that unlocks unlimited custom exercises, 4-week chart history navigation, detailed statistics, Siri Shortcuts, and supports independent development. No subscriptions, ever.

Does Hold Strong work on Apple Watch?

Yes. Hold Strong includes a full companion Apple Watch app with independent workout tracking, haptic feedback, and automatic exercise syncing between your iPhone and Watch.
